Silver Ocean

Mertensia maritima

Perennial ornamental edible variety, very hardy to Zones 2-8 and salt-tolerant with multiple uses for gardens and landscape. Also known by common names as Oysterleaf, Oysterplant and Sea bluebells. This edible plant for gourmets has silver-blue, greenish crispy leaves with the savory taste of fresh oysters. It requires vernalization over winter to initiate flower bud production.
